About Natalie
Miss Minnesota 2011 is Natalie Davis. Natalie is from Dassel, MN and she is the daughter of Dave and Cory Davis. She is a senior at St. Olaf College pursuing a degree in Chemistry. After successfully completing her pre-med requirements and reevaluating what truly makes her happy, she set aside her ambition to become a medical doctor and now hopes to pursue a successful career in broadcast journalism, communications, and performance.
Natalie is no stranger to wearing the crown. In 2006 she represented the state of Minnesota as Miss Minnesota’s Outstanding Teen. She is the first Outstanding Teen titleholder from Minnesota to win the Miss Minnesota title.
Natalie is an accomplished singer. At the Miss Minnesota pageant, she won a preliminary talent award for her performance of Giacomo Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma.” Natalie has been training vocally for ten years. She currently studies voice at St. Olaf College, where she has enjoyed performing as a soloist and also as a member of the St. Olaf Chapel Choir. Listen to a demo of Natalie's singing.
In addition to singing, Natalie is passionate about serving her community. In fact, she won the Miss America Community Service Award and was a Quality of Life Award finalist at both the Miss Minnesota 2011 and Miss America 2012 competitions.
Her service platform is entitled Autism Awareness: The Missing Piece. Her passion for autism stems from her younger brother Trevor, who has an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) called Asperger’s Syndrome. Over 1.5 million Americans are diagnosed with some form of autism. This large number does not include the number of family members, school systems, and work places that are also impacted by the disorder. As Miss Minnesota, Natalie hopes to make a lasting impact on society’s perception of individuals with ASD. Her goal is to increase awareness in order to create a culture of understanding and acceptance. As the official spokesperson for the Autism Society of Minnesota, Natalie will facilitate the growth of programs that benefit individuals affected by autism. Natalie hopes to be a strong voice in the autism community as she shares her brother’s story with the people she meets during her year as Miss Minnesota.
Natalie also works on behalf of the Miss America national platform, Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals, raising money for children's hospitals across the nation. Gillette Children's Hospital, Minnesota's CMN hospital, is a happy place for kids to be during what could be a very tough hospital stay. Please help Minnesota children being served at Gillette Children's Hospital by purchasing Natalie's original lullaby CD, Sweet Dreams, or by donating to her CMN account.
